RUFUS DU SOL

PREMIERE: GÜS RADIATES SMOOTH SERENITY ON ‘DO YOU FEEL ME’

And now for one of the most prolific upcoming names in the indie-electronic scene… Güs.

The beachy musician also known as Angus Hayes has written a new track ‘Do You Feel Me’, which can only be described as strikingly beautiful.

An ambiently peaceful soundscape is fulfilled as the song describes finding intimacy on a night out.

“It’s set in a bar and is about all the joy, pain and fallout that can come with [a night out].

“I was channelling Chet faker [Nick Murphy] for this one and as such I think it’s a pretty groovy, sexy song,” Güs explains.

The artist recently played his first ever solo gig at Brisbane’s The Triffid and while it was completely nerve-racking, he says it was super cool.

“I’m looking forward to gigging much more next year now that I have a solid audience base,” he adds.

Güs’ motivation to write the new tune formed during success of his previous release, ‘Way You Make Me Feel (Feat. Silier)’. The third single blew up instantly, receiving adds to Spotify’s New Music Fridays AU & NZ and Just Chill playlists. The track now has more than 120,000 Spotify streams. So, it’s no surprise Silier was invited to write the bassline and percussion for ‘Do You Feel Me’.

After working with Carmouflage Rose and producer James Angus, Güs will be jetting off to Norway in the next couple of weeks to work on his next EP, The Oslo Sessions.

Above all, Hayes hopes the fresh tune gets some bodies shaking. The track officially releases tomorrow, so be the first to listen to ‘Do You Feel Me’ right here!

Güs Hits a Home Run with Enchanting New Single

Brisbane musician Güs AKA Angus Hayes has dropped a phenomenal new track, ‘Way You Make Me Feel (feat Silier)’, which sounds like a blend of Ziggy Alberts and Petit Biscuit.

The wholesome tune explores the ups and downs of a long-distance relationship, as the artist’s partner is Norwegian.

Güs explains: "This is a song I wrote for my partner Sunny… The distance has made our relationship particularly complicated at times".

The artist’s third track pays heavy homage to influences Nick Murphy/Chet Faker, RUFUS DU SOL, and Vancouver Sleep Clinic.

The artist was having trouble putting the pieces of the song together… until he met Norwegian house and lo-fi producer, Simen Eriksen AKA Silier.

“I sent Silier the track on a Sunday and he had a new mix back to me in a couple of days… [he] came over for an evening recording session, and the result is pretty close to what you hear today,” says Güs.

While his previous release ‘Sun’s Bright’ picked up close to 1000 monthly Spotify listeners over a few days, the new tune ‘Way You Make Me Feel (feat Silier)’ has completely shattered expectations by racking up more than 23,000 listens in a week of its release. Güs has garnered a solid following over the course of 2019 and plans to unleash his upcoming EP Therapy later this year.

The beachy electro producer has proved he means business, so without further ado, all aboard the Güs bus!

HI MOTIVE create infectious groove on ‘Gone’

The Sydney-based boys Matt Rowe and Ed Rose of HI MOTIVE continue to impress with their new pulsing single ‘Gone’.

Originating from different parts of Australia, Matt and Ed bonded over their broad love of music. The titillating electronic duo, still only in their first year as proper artists despite writing music together since 2014, have created a beautifully complex tune.

The track explores the inner narrative of loss and naivety experienced in a fallout, featuring an enigmatic mix of melodic vocals and infectious synths.

Known to latch onto an electronic groove, the pair began creating mixes together in their university dorm room where they refined their sound into a melodic, moody style.

After selling out their Sydney 'Silk' launch event in July, HI MOTIVE will be performing alongside Kira Puru, Tom Tilley and others this month at Jam In A Jar Sydney, a charity event raising funds for Headspace.

If you’re a fan of RÜFÜS DU SOL, ODESZA or Hayden James, you’ll love the steady beat, echoed synths, and distant vocals of HI MOTIVE’s third release. Stream the infectiously throbbing single ‘Gone’ now.

Enigmatic Production Duo Breathe.'s Second Single 'London' Is A Moody Late Night Chiller

Breathe. are a fairly new act hailing from Sydney. While the project is in its infancy, there are already signs of something exceptionally interesting to come from the duo. Breathe. are a self-proclaimed audio/visual project and aesthetically, they are already bang-on point.

Their first single ‘Are You All Good’ came out late 2018 and has done well in the streaming world, as well as getting some love from Rufus Du Sol and Ta-Ku.

The sophomore track, ‘London’, is more ambitious than its predecessor, which was a solid first step, but somewhat restrained comparatively. The vocal is warm and lush, immediately compelling and quite literally pulls you in. It’s supported by sparse and subtle production – immaculately refined and impeccably sophisticated, particularly considering it’s the second release for Breathe.

There are a couple of moments that bring artists like Massive Attack and Rufus Du Sol to mind, but Breathe. are well on their way to developing a unique sound with ‘London’.

Feather Touch – Returns with glorious dancefloor-destroyer ‘Need You’

Sydney-based producer Feather Touch is back in all of his feet-thumping glory, with dancefloor-destroyer ‘Need You’. Showcasing him at his best, it’s no surprise his sound is often explained as “Tropi-Calypso Disco”.

If there was ever a justification to be that annoying dickwad requesting songs of the DJ at 3am, this song is it! ‘Need You’ touches you in a myriad of ways, however it ain’t nothing like a feather (slow clap.. please?).

The track starts out with what I can only describe as being sucked into a demented, strobe light seizure-inducing game of Donkey Kong. The verses provide some respite to catch your breath as Feather Touch’s own vocals slide smoothly across light percussion. Even at its lightest points, ‘Need You’ is designed to make your body move, and in my case, I have to try and sit on my leg to make it stop moving to this track.

Feather Touch has summed up what was different about his process for ‘Need You’ as follows:

"For this song, I really put aside my insecurities about singing and avoided being self-conscious on the structure as much as possible. I was really surprised by how much of a pop song it turned out to be."

Joining Feather Touch on production duties for this track is Melbourne producer extraordinaire Haxx (Kult Kyss, Yeo, King IV). This is a finger-licking combination and I hope we see more outings from this tag team in the future. I’ll definitely take as many tracks like ‘Need You’ as I can!

After performing his launch show last Friday at House Hibernian, keep your eyes out for Feather Touch’s new shows, because they’ll be anything but chill.
